Summer Camp
Dear Camper Families:
The DPF Nassau County 4-H Camp welcome you to our 84th year of camping in
2008. We strive to make each and every year at camp better for the campers and
staff who make it their home.
The Dorothy P. Flint Nassau County 4-H Camp is...
- a co-educational, sleep-away camp for youth entering grades 4-10
- operated by the Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Nassau County
- licensed and inspected by the Suffolk County Department of Health
- accredited by the American Camp Association. ACA accreditation signifies
to parents and the public that our camp cares enough to thoroughly review
its operational practices, seek the wisdom of other camp professionals
and make necessary improvements to comply with professional camp
standards. ACA standards are recognized by courts of law and government
regulators as the standards for camp.
Camp Philosophy
Resident youth camping offers young people many opportunities for growth and
continued learning, including the development of:
- An increased sense of independence, self-confidence and self-reliance,
- A greater knowledge of the natural world and the interconnection of all living
things,
- An appreciation and acceptance of social and cultural differences,
- An understanding that flexibility, sharing and consideration of others are
essential for group living,
- An excitement and enthusiasm for new experiences,
- New and lasting friendships.
